In August 2011, the Wispact Board of Directors established the Wispact Grants Fund to provide financial assistance for the benefit of Wispact Trust Beneficiaries. The financial assistance is provided through subsidy awards.

The overall goal for the Wispact Grants Fund is to improve the quality of life for people living with a disability. The Board has targeted a number of areas for consideration:

  • Legal and administrative fees associated with the creation of a Wispact Special Needs Trust, for eligible beneficiaries.
  • Advocacy fees
  • Assistive devices
  • Emergency services
  • Financial literacy courses
  • Funeral and burial services
  • Payroll service fees for caregivers
  • Transitional services for young and middle-aged adults
  • Transportation
  • Vocational support
  • Other costs of living expenses

The grant can also help Beneficiaries and their families attend conventions and conferences that deal with disabilities. The Grants Fund can subsidize entrance fees, travel or lodging. Please check our website under events for a partial list of conventions. The Grants Fund can also subsidize medical devices and education.

To be eligible for a Wispact Grants Fund, the Beneficiary must be a current Wispact Trust Beneficiary. The Beneficiary’s sub-account must be open for a period of 12 months or longer before applications for assistance can be remitted. The award is based on several criteria including the amount of funds in the Beneficiary’s account and the degree of need.
