Miranda and Mobility Scooter

Wispact appreciates hearing from and we are inspired by the stories that Beneficiaries share with us on how our trusts impact their lives. Beneficiary Miranda was able to obtain an Enclosed Mobility Scooter with additional Grant Funding provided by our Retained Fund Grants. Miranda has autism and a cognitive impairment. She works a few hours at the local library a few blocks away. Her mother and guardian, Lisa, has a long-term goal to assist Miranda with becoming as independent as possible. This enclosed mobility scooter will allow her to go to work and to run errands independently. The local Police Department has been actively involved, and partnering with the family to ensure that Miranda can safely drive on the sidewalks.

Lisa said, “This will give Miranda the freedom to get back and forth to her job at our local public library. We live in a town where there are no buses or taxis but with the scooter Miranda could get to the doctor’s office, dentist office, grocery store, bank, Special Olympic activities here locally and more. It works day or night with headlights and in rain and even moderate snow. This can be life changing for Miranda and for me as I deal with health issues. I want Miranda to get comfortable with this new independence.”
